President's Message

Dear Members, 

Our golf outing hosts have been doing a wonderful job.  They have arranged for play on beautiful courses followed by excellent restaurant choices.  Thanks also to our members who support the efforts of our outing hosts and add to the event by joining an outing foursome.  There is always room for another outing; why don’t you give it a try?  Select your favorite course and host a golf outing this season.  Contact either golf co-chair Lisa Rademacher or Bert Hermann for available dates and additional information.  In our best effort to avoid scheduling conflicts, all outings must be coordinated through them.   

Our social duo, Ann Browne and Grace Zucaro, continue to organize enjoyable monthly meetings and mingles at a variety of locations.  In their best effort to provide positive experiences that meet the needs and desires of all members, events are scheduled at various North Jersey locations. In all cases the restaurants require a headcount of attendees several days in advance of the meeting.  That is why we ask/require members to RSVP their intent to attend in advance.  There have been circumstances when understandably plans change and members committed by reservation do not attend the dinner meeting.  In such cases, when the chapter is held to the reserved number of dinners the loss is absorbed by the treasury unless offset by unexpected guests.  To bring equity to the membership and prevent future losses, all members are responsible for payment of their reserved dinner regardless of attendance.     

As we enter the last month of summer with fall right around the corner, please do a little soul searching and envision how you might give back to your chapter.  That time of year is approaching - the nominating committee will soon be knocking on your door seeking members interested in running for Board of Director positions.  From experience I can tell you it doesn’t pay much (nothing) but you get to work with a great group of people and it is a very rewarding experience.  Consider it for 2009! 

Let’s all do our part to reach out and spread the NJ-ASGA word to fellow single golfers and encourage prospective members to attend our meetings, mingles, and outings.  I look forward to a continued year of  friendship, growth and great golf for 2008.
