Full refund will
only be given for a cancellation notice provided to the
outing host at
least one month prior to the event. No funds will be returned for cancellations
within one month
of the outing; however you may arrange to “sell” your spot to another
golfer to recoup
your expense.

17 NJ-ASGAer's
traveled west to Split Rock Resort for a weekend golf getaway. Saturday proved
to be a great
day for golf. The
picturesque course in the Poconos provided a real challenge to all with many
long marshes,
a very hilly
terrain, and many difficult greens. The weather cooperated as not 1 member got
WET (with the
exception of a
stray sprinkler) from the rain clouds that overshadowed the course. Helena Van
Norde and Bill
Grabowski won
prizes for the longest drive hole. However, the conversation at dinner centered
around a mammoth
drive by our
President Linda Madernini! Sunday began with a delicious breakfast with LOTS OF
FRESH FRUIT
as was requested.
Some members took advantage of more golf while others headed home. Once again,
Ruth Elk
did an outstanding
job planning the Split Rock Resort event. Thanks Ruth!!!!!
8 members traveled
to Vernon in 90+degree heat for a "mini"-Ryder Cup competition. Frank Hopler
and Kari
Goldstein were the
runaway winners for the "Best Ball". The competition for "Alternate Shot" was
much closer
with 3 teams
within 4 shots. Taking the prize for "Alternate Shot" was the team of Gus
Eggerling and Elizabeth
Mark. WAY TO GO
for the team competition format. Minerals GC has a daily "closest-to-the-pin"
contest and
our own Frank
Hopler took the honors with a tee shot that landed 2' 8" from the cup on Hole 9
for that competition;
as well as winning
a free round of golf. GREAT JOB FRANK! Everyone, OF COURSE, headed to "Breezy
Point
Restaurant" on
Greenwood Lake (a favorite of Gus Eggerling's I am told) to finish the day with
a nice meal.
Thanks go out to
everyone who has supported the weekday outings and a "SPECIAL THANKS" to Dave
Gray
for his efforts in
planning these events.
Congrats go out to
Janice Vooght who had a Hole-in-One on the 11th hole of Bowling Green GC. In
addition,
both Janice and
Donna Beland are members of the EWGA (Executive Women’s Golf Association) and
won low
net and low gross
respectively in their handicap flights, in their chapter championships. This
means they will
go on and
represent their chapters in the EWGA regional round in August, at Seaview
Marriott. And – they are
both in the same
handicap flight so they’ll be going head to head with each other! There are 9
chapters
participating in
this round so hopefully both of them will advance to the EWGA Nationals, held in
Oregon.
Good luck to both
of them.
Don't forget to
get your checks to Marc Levinson for the Knoll East GC outing on Aug. 16, 2008 -
the deadline
is Aug. 8th.
Also, Debbie Jordan is accepting checks for the Sept. 13th Winding Hills GC
outing. Thanks to both
Marc and Debbie
for volunteering to organize these and add to the success of the golf outing
schedule for the year.
